Stronger support has been called for to accelerate the development of Zhejiang's humanoid robot industry as the fourth session of the 14th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress opened in Hangzhou on Jan 14.

Qiu Jianping, a deputy to the 14th Zhejiang Provincial People's Congress and chairman of GreatStar, raised the proposal, focusing on how to translate Zhejiang's manufacturing strengths into global competitiveness in humanoid robotics.

Qiu said Zhejiang's manufacturing sector has built strong competitiveness over decades, and that the humanoid robot industry has already formed a relatively complete industrial chain, spanning components, complete machine assembly, and application scenarios.

He put forward two main recommendations. First, he suggested drawing on the experience of nurturing the new energy vehicle industry by introducing targeted subsidies for enterprises selling humanoid robots. Such measures, he said, would help accelerate large-scale production, lower costs, and support China in maintaining a leading position in the global robotics sector.

Second, Qiu called for stronger support to help companies expand overseas, foster globally competitive robot brands, and enable Zhejiang's intelligent manufacturing products to reach wider international markets.
