Jiaxing sees steady economic growth in 2025
Jiaxing's economy achieved solid growth in 2025, with GDP reaching 785.1 billion yuan ($112.8 billion), a 5.2 percent increase from the previous year.
The primary sector's added value grew by 3.9 percent to 15.54 billion yuan, while the secondary sector rose by 4.3 percent to 380.04 billion yuan. The tertiary sector recorded the fastest growth at 6.2 percent, contributing 389.52 billion yuan to the overall economy.
Grain production also delivered strong results, with both the city's sowing area and total output increasing. The cultivated area reached 159,360 hectares, while total production hit 1.03 million metric tons, maintaining its position as Zhejiang's top producer for the 20th consecutive year. The growth in agriculture, forestry, livestock, and fishery output value has reached a new high in recent years.
In industrial production, Jiaxing maintained steady growth, with added value from industrial enterprises above designated size — enterprises with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan — increasing by 5.4 percent.
Jiaxing's foreign trade remained strong in 2025, with total imports and exports reaching 495.72 billion yuan, a 2.9 percent year-on-year increase.
Residents' incomes continued to rise, while the gap between urban and rural areas further narrowed. The ratio of urban to rural residents' income has been further optimized to 1.48. The per capita disposable income of rural residents reached 54,939 yuan, up 5.1 percent year-on-year.
The value added by high-tech manufacturing rose by 13.6 percent, signaling a shift toward more advanced industrial and economic structures.
