A twice-weekly cargo air route between Ningbo and Los Angeles resumed on Jan 28 with a Kalitta Air B747-400 freighter carrying 105 metric tons of goods departing Ningbo Lishe International Airport for the United States.
This service, scheduled to operate on Wednesdays and Fridays, strengthens logistics support for cross-border e-commerce exports from East China.
Around 30 tons of the shipment consists of cross-border e-commerce retail goods, including clothing, footwear, accessories, and household items.
Los Angeles, the largest aviation hub on the US West Coast, provides fast access to regional distribution networks. After landing, parcels can reach major cities such as San Francisco and Seattle within one day, significantly reducing delivery times and improving efficiency for small-package exports.
Ningbo’s previous main US-bound cargo route linked the city with New York. However, the reopening of the Los Angeles route helps ease cargo capacity pressure on exporters in Ningbo and nearby manufacturing centers, creating new opportunities to reach core US markets.
Since January, Ningbo airport has already handled more than 900 tons of US-bound cross-border e-commerce cargo, and the new service is expected to increase weekly freight volume by about 60 tons.
Customs officials have said the airport will continue expanding its global air cargo network, supporting exporters, and promoting high-quality growth in cross-border trade.
