Zhejiang records 46.04 million Spring Festival tourist visits

Zhejiang recorded 46.04 million tourist visits during the Spring Festival holiday, up 24.7 percent year-on-year, according to the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism.

Among the total, 29.32 million were overnight visits, an increase of 25.9 percent. Comprehensive tourism revenue reached 67.95 billion yuan ($9.88 billion), up 26.5 percent, while per capita spending stood at 1,475.8 yuan, rising 1.4 percent.

Visits to 4A-level and above scenic areas totaled 30.42 million, up 24.8 percent. The top three attractions were the West Lake scenic area in Hangzhou, the Nanxi River scenic area in Wenzhou, and the Taizhou City Wall scenic area in Taizhou.

A total of 639 intangible cultural heritage performances were held across the province, drawing 8.08 million participants and generating sales of nearly 200 million yuan of intangible cultural heritage-related Chinese New Year goods.

More than 70 museums extended opening hours and launched 244 themed exhibitions, with 55 monitored museums and cultural institutions recording 1.58 million visits, up 12.1 percent.

Inbound visits to the province rose 39.8 percent, while inbound tourism spending increased 54.8 percent. Foreign arrivals at Zhejiang ports between Feb 15 and 22 rose 18.9 percent, while tax refund transactions at Hangzhou International Airport increased by 219.2 percent, with the total refund amount up 44.7 percent.
