A qipao (a traditional Chinese dress) show has become a vibrant cultural bridge linking China and North Macedonia, earning high praise from Chinese Ambassador to North Macedonia Jiang Xiaoyan and highlighting Ningbo's role in promoting traditional Chinese aesthetics abroad.
Invited by the Chinese embassy in North Macedonia, Zhejiang Chantel Gong Cultural Industry Development from Ningbo presented the grand finale at a local fashion week event. Nearly 300 guests attended, including political, business, academic, and media representatives, as well as foreign diplomats.
In her keynote speech, Ambassador Jiang emphasized that clothing culture serves as an important window for the world to understand China. She expressed hope that the qipao show would deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.
Chantel Gong presented a stunning collection that fused intangible cultural heritage with contemporary fashion. Drawing on the refined craftsmanship of the Hongbang tailoring tradition and Shanghai-style elegance, the show demonstrated how traditional Chinese attire can be adapted for modern lifestyles.
Three themed series were unveiled: a relaxed daily wear line featuring tie-dye and gradient techniques; a Chinese-style workplace collection crafted from luxurious kesi and brocade fabrics; and a formal wear series distinguished by intricate gold couching embroidery and beadwork.
Founder Gong Hangyu explained that the designs are intended to be both practical and wearable, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design to make Eastern aesthetics more accessible.
The show received enthusiastic acclaim from attendees, with local officials hailing it as one of the most impressive fashion events in the country.
