The Florence International Craft Fair opened in Florence, Italy, on April 25, drawing artisans and visitors from around the world.
Among the highlights was a distinctive showcase from Ningbo's Zhenhai district, where traditional Chinese art brought by the Red Peony Academy of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, as well as Hi Craft intangible cultural heritage (ICH) creations, brought a touch of Eastern beauty to the exhibition.
Marking the first time Zhenhai's ICH has been exhibited in Italy, the booth quickly became a crowd favorite. At the booth of Jiang Hongsheng, head of the Red Peony Academy of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, visitors gathered to watch as traditional Chinese motifs — peonies, orchids, bamboo — came to life through brush and ink on rice paper. Many international guests were captivated and eager to try their hand at the art form.
In addition to live demonstrations, Jiang introduced over a dozen cultural products under the Hi Craft brand, including farmer paintings, bamboo wind chimes, decorative fans, and handcrafted pouches. The intricate designs and techniques sparked strong interest, with exhibitors and visitors alike asking about their origins and craftsmanship.
The fair runs through May 3, giving visitors in Florence a glimpse into the rich cultural fabric of a coastal Chinese city.
