Young Nigerian thrives in Quzhou, embracing culture and cuisine
Onyekwelu Patrick Chinazam from Nigeria passionately introduced the Pashanhu, an all-terrain crawler transporter, to clients in fluent Chinese on May 12 at Zhejiang Jiying Intelligent Agricultural Machinery Equipment in Quzhou, Zhejiang province.
The 32-year-old Nigerian had studied Chinese at a Confucius Institute in Nigeria, where he initially struggled with Chinese but persevered, ultimately earning a scholarship to study in China. He pursued advanced studies in Chinese language and culture, culminating in a master's degree in international Chinese education in Qufu, Shandong province.
In 2020, Onyekwelu joined Zhejiang Jiying, using his language skills and cultural insight to excel in agricultural machinery sales. His focus on overseas markets like Malaysia and Laos has been instrumental in expanding the company's international footprint.

He has also shared his work experiences on TikTok, where his videos showcasing Chinese agricultural machinery have garnered significant attention, including one with over 1.2 million views.
Beyond his professional achievements, Onyekwelu has embraced Quzhou's culinary scene, savoring spicy local dishes such as duck heads and Changshan noodles, and capturing these experiences in short videos to share with friends and family back home.
Inspired by China's advancements in agricultural mechanization and intelligence, he is determined to promote Sino-African agricultural exchange and bring these innovations back to Nigeria to boost agricultural productivity.
