The recent heatwave sweeping across Europe, breaking temperature records in countries like Germany and the Czech Republic, has significantly increased demand for cooling products such as air conditioners and fans. In response, Yiwu International Trade Market in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, has become a hotspot for overseas buyers seeking creative summer cooling solutions.
Among the popular items are fan-equipped sun hats, handheld fans, and cooling neck rings, all of which have attracted international customers.
In District Five of Yiwu International Trade Market, one merchant has combined 3D toys with fan functions to create innovative summer cooling products, while another vendor has enhanced their cooling neck rings by adding fans, resulting in a sharp increase in sales.
This surge in demand is not limited to small items; exports of household cooling appliances from Yiwu have also risen noticeably.
Relying on a mature supply chain and cross-border logistics, along with promotions from e-commerce platforms, Yiwu's export orders for cooling appliances have been robust this year. From January to May, Yiwu achieved a cross-border e-commerce transaction value of 81.18 billion yuan ($11.95 billion), marking a 10.23 percent year-on-year increase.
