Over 50 students from the United States have arrived in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, for a five-day cultural exchange program under the 2026 "Hi, Young" China-US youth camp, where they are participating in campus visits, traditional medicine experiences, and sports activities.

Students from the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of California, San Diego, as well as several high schools, are taking part in the program. Activities include visits to Zhejiang Ocean University, Zhoushan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, and local cultural sites, as well as hands-on experiences in acupuncture and massage therapy.

At Zhejiang Zhoushan Tourism and Health College, the students observed a modern practical training teaching model for cultural tourism and health care and experienced making intangible cultural heritage incense pendants, which many kept as souvenirs.

A table tennis match between Chinese and US students was also a highlight of the program, with participants building rapport through sport.

In the following days, the group will explore island villages, join a night tour of fishing ports, participate in beach bonfire gatherings and dragon boat activities, and experience Zhoushan's maritime culture and everyday coastal life. After Zhoushan, they will travel to Beijing to visit the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, and Tsinghua University.
