As the 2026 sports year unfolds with the Zhejiang Provincial City Basketball League following the FIFA World Cup, Yiwu, the "World's Supermarket" in Jinhua, is thriving on the sports economy.
The Yiwu Sports and Outdoor Products Expo alongside the Yiwu Bicycle, E-bike, and Parts Fair were hosted from Aug 2 to 4, showcasing China's prowess in these industries.
Covering 40,000 square meters with over 1,600 booths, the expos featured more than 800 companies and were expected to attract over 50,000 professional buyers.
At the Sports and Outdoor Products Expo, exhibitors offered immersive experiences, with attractions like automatic table tennis serving machines and on-site basketball games, allowing buyers to test products firsthand.
In the first half of the year, Yiwu's exports of sports goods hit 6.22 billion yuan ($921.25 million), a 6.1 percent increase year-on-year, with exports to Latin America surging by 20.4 percent.
The Bicycle, E-bike, and Parts Fair also drew significant interest with a wide variety of complete vehicles and core components, including commuting vehicles, mountain bikes, and components like batteries, tires, and braking systems.
Organizers have invited buyers from Brazil, Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia. The event also included international procurement meetings, helping participants connect with global buyers.
