A new exhibition focusing on Wuzhou Kiln crafts has opened at the Wuyi County Museum in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, and will run until Nov 22.

A standout feature is a wall displaying over 800 porcelain cups, each with distinct glazes and patterns that reflect the kiln's rich history. Curator Xu Ke explained, "We fired over 1,000 cups to show how glazes, clay, and kiln conditions create diverse effects."

Wuyi, the center of Wuzhou Kiln production, is known for its diverse kilns and innovative techniques. The exhibition is divided into four sections, offering a complete narrative from raw clay to finished product.

The "Ten Questions about Wuzhou Kiln" question cards were produced, which invite visitors to interactive displays linked to these questions, making technical terms accessible.

Over 80 exhibits showcase the core techniques of Wuzhou Kiln. The exhibition also features "failed" pieces, revealing firing mishaps and offering insights into the kiln process.

Xu said that protecting Wuzhou Kiln is not only about preserving the complete artifacts, but also preserving the kiln site, furnaces, tools, porcelain fragments, waste piles, and firing marks, which helps future generations understand the judgment experience behind activities such as soil collection, glazing, and firing.

The museum will also host educational activities to further engage visitors with Wuzhou Kiln heritage.
