Jinhua Wuju Opera astonishes Xinjiang audience

Three Fights Against the White Bone Demon, a renowned Wuju Opera performance from Jinhua, Zhejiang province, toured Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region from Aug 27 to Sept 1, delivering five performances in four locations, with Urumqi, the first stop, hosting two shows.
This tour is part of an initiative to enrich Xinjiang's diverse communities by showcasing traditional Chinese culture. The Zhejiang and Jinhua aid-Xinjiang command offices invited the Zhejiang Wuju Opera Troupe to deliver this award-winning show, deepening cultural exchange between Zhejiang and Xinjiang.
Since its premiere in 2023, the opera has been performed over 270 times in 31 countries, reaching over 5 million people both online and offline.
Li Zhe, an actor from the Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture Art Theater, said that they are also adapting a play based on Journey to the West, emphasizing this performance as a valuable learning opportunity.
Yang Yong, vice-chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous regional committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, praised the performance, highlighting the cast's skill and dedication.
