Quzhou in Zhejiang province announced the program for its 2026 Southern Confucianism Cultural Tourism Season at a news conference on Sept 2.

The season will feature three major events — the 2026 Quzhou Confucian Culture Forum, a ceremony commemorating Confucius, and the 2026 China Poetry Culture Conference — along with a range of supporting activities.

The Quzhou Confucian Culture Forum will run from Sept 5 to 7 under the theme of the modern significance and global value of Confucian culture, and is set to include keynote speeches, roundtable discussions, and engaging activities.

A ceremony marking the 2,577th anniversary of Confucius' birth will be held at the Family Temple of Confucius in Quzhou on Sept 28, where a Song Dynasty (960–1279) Confucian ritual will also be livestreamed.

The 2026 China Poetry Culture Conference will kick off on Sept 27, showcasing Quzhou's rich legacy of poetry from the Song Dynasty.

Other activities include exhibitions, cultural programs for young people, and events across Quzhou's ancient city and rural areas.

From Sept 26 to 28, academics and media representatives from Brazil will visit Quzhou for cultural exchanges and attend the ceremony commemorating Confucius.

Quzhou began holding its annual Southern Confucianism Culture Season in 2021 before expanding it into a cultural tourism season in 2024.
