Zhejiang's first officially designated professional low-altitude drone test base has completed construction and is preparing to begin regular operations in Hangzhou's Yuhang district.
The Hangzhou Yuhang Civil Drone Test Flight Operations Base, designated HD-ZJ-001, received official designation from the East China Regional Administration of the Civil Aviation Administration of China and began trial operations in November 2025.
Located near Nanhu Future Science Park, the base covers about 6.8 hectares, with approximately 5,000 square meters of buildings.
It has access to 15.7 square kilometers of airspace, with a maximum permitted flight altitude of 300 meters. Its location away from densely populated areas provides a suitable environment for aircraft testing.
The facility features a 500-meter-long, 18-meter-wide runway, dedicated takeoff and landing areas, helicopter pads, hangars, and a service center.
It can accommodate various aircraft, including fixed-wing drones, multirotor drones, and electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The base is also equipped with communications, navigation, weather monitoring, charging facilities, and a digital flight management system.
Once fully operational, it will provide companies with research and development testing, flight verification, exhibitions, and training services.
The facility is expected to support drone technology development and attract more aviation companies to Yuhang's low-altitude economy sector.
