Leapmotor expands European production with B10 SUV
Hangzhou-based Leapmotor is expanding from vehicle exports into local manufacturing in Europe, with production of its B10 electric SUV starting at the Stellantis plant in Zaragoza, Spain, in October.
Ahead of the eighth World Zhejiang Entrepreneurs Convention, which opens in Hangzhou on Nov 6, the company highlighted in-house development as the foundation of its global expansion.
Leapmotor develops core technologies spanning electrical and electronic architecture, smart cockpits, and intelligent driving. The company develops high-value core components, which account for at least 65 percent of total vehicle costs, in-house rather than relying on off-the-shelf external solutions.
In September, overseas deliveries of the B10 exceeded domestic retail sales. Starting at about 29,900 euros in Europe, the all-electric SUV uses an internally developed battery, electric drive, and intelligent systems. Its cockpit and intelligent driving functions can be continually upgraded, with adaptations for European safety standards and local driving habits.
Leapmotor and Stellantis are also developing battery module and battery pack assembly lines in Spain, extending their cooperation beyond vehicle production.
