A father and his son from Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province have become famous in their hometown by transforming rags into elegant patchwork handicrafts.

Yang Tiegang, executive president of the Zhejiang Patchwork Association and chairman of Shaoxing Master Culture Innovation Co, as well as his son Yang Chaodeng, who graduated from the China Academy of Art, have dedicated themselves to promoting patchwork art.

In 2016, they began to teach locals patchwork skills. Since then, their handicrafts have become well-known to many households.

Nearly 10,000 locals living on low incomes have received training from them and now earn additional income by producing patchworks.

Last May, Yang Tiegang and a group of patchwork enthusiasts founded a museum dedicated to showcasing patchwork art. The exhibits include dolls, cloth bags, and cloth shoes, all of which are made by rags.
