Xu Aihong, a female farmer living in Lingnan town, Shangyu district, Shaoxing, captured the attention of media outlets after she recently became a barista at a local café named Three Moon Village Café in Lingnan.

The 65-year-old farmer once worked as a housekeeper in Shanghai when she was young. It was during her time in the city that she developed a love for coffee.

When Xu learned that a café was going to open in her hometown, she returned and submitted an application for the barista position.

Following a month of training, Xu can now make beverages including latte, cappuccino and American-style coffee.

The Three Moon Village Café is the first village-themed coffee shop in Lingnan town. The cafe owner Da Liang expressed hope that the café would help change the way villagers live and help drive industrial growth in rural areas.
