An official at Hailiang Junior High School introduced that their school basketball league was launched in 2018. They host over 150 regulars and over 40 play-offs throughout the year.

Shaoxing's Zhuji is among the first batch of "national basketball cities" named by the General Administration of Sports of China. Every village has its own courts and games between village teams is a common thing.
