The Shaoxing Comprehensive Bonded Zone is gaining momentum as a key driver of the city's open economy, now home to 131 core businesses spanning logistics, cross-border e-commerce, and manufacturing.
Inside a 1,700-square-meter warehouse operated by Shaoxing Lingshida Supply Chain Management Co, staff sort and ship nearly one million imported goods across 400 categories. "We moved into the zone last April," said Mi Chaoyi, a representative of the company. "Thanks to policy support, we expect to surpass 200 million yuan ($27.64 million) in imports this year."
Big-name platforms like JD, Douyin, and Cainiao have set up operations in the zone, helping push total import-export volume to 25 billion yuan in 2024, a 46.2 percent jump from the previous year.
Strong business growth is underpinned by a data-driven approach. The zone has rolled out smart customs clearance, operations, and navigation systems to streamline management. It's also partnering with universities to train cross-border e-commerce talent, with over 200 graduates already placed in local firms.
In 2024, the Shaoxing Comprehensive Bonded Zone achieved a remarkable milestone, with its import and export value soaring to 25.02 billion yuan, marking a 46.2 percent increase from the previous year.
Furthermore, the comprehensive bonded zone is cultivating a talent pool for cross-border e-commerce. By deepening industry-academia collaborations with institutions like Shaoxing University and Zhejiang Post and Telecommunication College, the zone has streamlined the talent development pipeline.
To date, over 200 versatile professionals have been trained and placed in the city's cross-border e-commerce firms, supporting the sector's rapid expansion.
