Celadon is internationally renowned for its smooth texture, graceful lines, elegant forms, and layered, translucent glazes. Among historical centers of production, Shaoxing's Yue kiln celadon is considered one of the highest achievements in the craft.

Originating in the Eastern Han Dynasty (25–220), Yue kiln celadon is made from locally sourced porcelain stone or clay and features a gray body with bluish-yellow or cyan glazes.
