Shaoxing yellow rice wine was included in China's inaugural list of key traditional food production zones and characteristic local food industries for cultivation by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on June 4. Zhejiang tops the list with three entries — the most among all regions.

Currently, Shaoxing hosts 11 yellow rice wine enterprises above the designated size, whose combined annual sales account for over 40 percent of the national market. Leading brands such as Gu Yue Long Shan, Kuaijishan, and Pagoda Brand have successfully established positions in the premium liquor segment.

Notably, Gu Yue Long Shan was included in this year's inaugural list of prestigious consumer brands of China — the only historical classic brand from Zhejiang province to receive this honor.

According to the municipal economic and information technology bureau of Shaoxing, the city will intensify cultivation efforts for traditional food production zones and characteristic local food industries, aiming to unleash greater development vitality and build robust industrial clusters. Specifically for yellow rice wine, Shaoxing has set a target industry scale of 10 billion yuan ($1.39 billion) by 2027.
