Keqiao district in Shaoxing, East China's Zhejiang province, is piloting the city's first medical and health industry community, aiming to accelerate the clustering of high-end projects and professionals in the sector.

The initiative is designed to raise the district's modernization level and boost the core competitiveness of its medical and health industry by combining research, living, and public services into a single ecosystem.

At DSW Withub, a former industrial park is being quietly transformed. R&D buildings are now interwoven with pedestrian-friendly streets, pocket parks, and plazas. Scientists and technicians can be seen in small groups talking over coffee or relaxing in green spaces. Nearby, business hotels, talent apartments, and education and entertainment facilities line the blocks.

To date, more than 30 medical and health projects have been introduced to the community, with a total planned investment of 12 billion yuan ($1.68 billion).

Officials say the project reflects a shift toward integrated industrial spaces that support innovation, lifestyle, and collaboration, offering a new model for high-quality development in strategic sectors.
