More than 50 members of the Zhejiang Shaoxing Opera Art Research Institute visited Hong Kong from Oct 13 to 17 to take part in a cultural exchange event marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The performances aimed to strengthen cultural ties between Zhejiang and Hong Kong through the timeless art of Shaoxing Opera.
Following two successful visits last year, the troupe returned with an even stronger lineup and higher artistic standards. They presented two traditional masterpieces, offering Hong Kong audiences a vivid display of Shaoxing Opera's distinctive charm and dynamic martial scenes. Both performances drew full houses and enthusiastic applause throughout.
Many audience members, particularly those with roots in Shaoxing, expressed deep affection and nostalgia. "It's incredibly moving to hear the familiar dialect and experience authentic Shaoxing Opera here in Hong Kong," said a Hong Kong resident originally from Shaoxing. "The performances were brilliant and brought back so many memories of my hometown."
After the shows, theatergoers eagerly took photos with the performers.
