Shaoxing is intensifying its efforts to attract young professionals as the year draws to a close. Recruiters have traveled to Shenzhen for digital economy hiring programs and to universities in Chongqing and Dalian, while preparations are underway for a talent event with Fudan University. This approach aligns with the city's long-term development strategy, which prioritizes talent as central to future growth.

Shaoxing has operated annual initiatives connecting universities and employers for eight consecutive years, including a major event this year that bridged institutions across eastern, central, and western regions. From January to October, 112,100 university graduates secured jobs, placing the city 27th nationwide in a 2025 ranking of cities most attractive to graduates born after 1995.

Shaoxing's focus on attracting young talent has supported both employment and population growth. The city had 5.43 million permanent residents by the end of 2024, an increase of 35,000 from the previous year, mainly due to net inflows from outside the city.

Shaoxing's appeal lies in its robust economy and solid industrial foundation. The city's GDP growth ranked among the top two in Zhejiang province for three quarters this year, and the city moved up to 28th nationwide in overall economic competitiveness.

Manufacturing remains the backbone of the local economy, supported by emerging industries and more than 830,000 market entities that support a large workforce. Low housing costs, high income levels, and convenient transport have helped the city win recognition as one of China's most livable cities for three consecutive years.

Through coordinated planning in industry, urban development, and public services, Shaoxing seeks to attract new residents and support young professionals looking to build careers in the city.
