The Industrial Culture Development Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the 2025 national industrial landmarks of China on Dec 16, 2025.

Shaoxing secured a spot on this prestigious national list — which features only 30 entries — in recognition of it as a national landmark for the modern textile industry. A news conference was held on Feb 6 to announce the achievement and detail the city's industrial progress.

The competitiveness of Shaoxing's textile sector is rooted in its solid foundation. The city has formed a highly efficient and synergistic modern industrial cluster, building a complete industrial chain spanning from fiber production, weaving, dyeing, and finishing to apparel and home textiles. In 2025, the output value of Shaoxing's modern textile industry reached 271.5 billion yuan ($39.18 billion), a year-on-year increase of 3.8 percent, with cluster effects continuing to strengthen.

Building on this, Shaoxing has adhered to a development vision of "green, high-end, and world-leading", expanding from traditional apparel and home textiles into technical textiles with higher technological content and added value. 

The city is actively developing emerging sectors such as high-strength industrial yarn, functional fibers, carbon fiber, and recycled fiber. In 2025, the average R&D intensity of Shaoxing's textile enterprises above designated size, or those with an annual revenue of 20 million yuan or above, reached 4.5 percent, while the output value of new products hit 106.2 billion yuan, demonstrating how continuous innovation drives industrial upgrading.

Leveraging its industrial strengths, Shaoxing is also actively developing new business models such as cross-border e-commerce and livestreaming e-commerce. Supported by the China-Europe freight train (Keqiao), the city has established efficient logistics channels. 

Looking forward, Shaoxing will continue to advance toward intelligent, green, and integrated development, focusing on strengthening innovation leadership, enriching brand value, and optimizing the market ecosystem to further polish this national industrial landmark.
