Shanghai Guan Sheng Yuan Food Co and Shaoxing Huinong Supply Chain Management Co jointly launched a new product on March 20 — Torreya Cinnamon Toffee. The creative candy, which combines the classic creamy flavor of White Rabbit milk candy with crunchy torreya nuts and warm cinnamon, has sold 6,000 boxes since its market debut in early February.
Shaoxing is a major torreya-producing area. In recent years, the city has leveraged technological innovation and cultural creativity to boost the torreya industry, transforming it into a key sector linking urban and rural areas and promoting common prosperity. A variety of derivatives, including torreya-infused chocolates, aromatherapy products, and toiletries, have been developed.
"The whole process, from initial discussions to product launch, took less than half a year," said Sun Yuwei, marketing director at Guan Sheng Yuan Food Co. "The support from Shaoxing's government and local businesses in developing the torreya industry was a key reason we chose torreya over other nuts."
The new candy retains the classic taste of White Rabbit milk candy and uses high-quality torreya nuts sourced directly from the production area to ensure high quality and the best flavor.
It is now available at Shaoxing's main tourist attractions such as Lu Xun Native Place, as well as on e-commerce platforms such as Tmall, Taobao and Pinduoduo.
