More than 100 international students from four universities in Zhejiang embarked on a cultural journey through Shaoxing on June 13, exploring the city's rich heritage.

The event kicked off in Shaoxing Rice Wine Town. Students from countries across Asia, Africa, and Europe were welcomed with gifts and a bilingual edition of Picturesque Zhejiang, a publication designed to introduce readers to the province's culture and history.

A traditional opening ceremony featuring the opening of a jar of aged Shaoxing rice wine marked the beginning of the visit. Students then toured the Huangjiu Exhibition Hall, sampled innovative rice wine-inspired treats such as ice cream and milk tea, and learned how traditional foods are made.

The water-town experience continued with rides on Shaoxing's iconic black-awning boats. As Yueju Opera melodies drifted across the canals, students took part in a local craft activity by painting colorful designs on rice wine jars.

"I've visited Lu Xun Native Place and Orchid Pavilion before, and I love Shaoxing's intangible cultural heritage items," said a student from Yemen. "Being able to experience them with my own hands is fascinating."

The two-day itinerary also included visits to the Shaoxing Museum, Lu Xun Native Place, Zhuji's Shanxiahu town and the Lanting Scenic Area.
