Shaoxing Rice Wine Town has been named a national 4A tourist attraction, one of eight scenic areas in Zhejiang to receive the prestigious designation this year.
Located in Dongpu Ancient Town, a historic settlement with more than 1,600 years of recorded history, the town is widely recognized as the birthplace of Shaoxing rice wine and is famed for its long-standing brewing heritage.
Blending tradition with innovation, the attraction offers immersive experiences such as Song Dynasty (960-1279)-style weddings and rice wine festivals, while a new water route links the town with the East Zhejiang Canal Cultural Park. Visitors can also enjoy interactive theater performances and creative rice wine-inspired treats, including ice cream, milk tea, and coffee, giving this ancient craft a fresh appeal for younger generations.
