Shaoxing's economy maintained steady growth in the first seven months of 2026, with value-added industrial output from enterprises above the designated size rising 10.8 percent year-on-year, while retail sales reached 193.1 billion yuan ($28.72 billion), up 2.9 percent.

Excluding property development, fixed-asset investment increased 7 percent, led by a 17.5 percent rise in manufacturing investment and a 29.9 percent increase in public service investment.

Foreign trade remained a major strength, with Shaoxing's total imports and exports reaching 242.3 billion yuan, up 12.1 percent. Private enterprises accounted for 91.7 percent of exports, highlighting their strong contribution to the city's external trade, while exports of lithium-ion batteries, biotechnology products, computer-integrated manufacturing technology, and optoelectronic technology grew particularly rapidly.

Innovation is increasingly driving the city's growth, as shown by the value-added output of enterprises above the designated size in the digital economy core industries, high-tech industries, and equipment manufacturing, which grew 18.5 percent, 18.1 percent, and 17 percent, respectively.

Demand for upgraded consumer goods also remained strong, with retail sales of wearable smart devices, smartphones, and photographic equipment, driven by online platform promotions and surging online sales, growing by 135 percent, 40.2 percent, and 24.5 percent, respectively.
