East China's Zhejiang province has released a five-year plan that calls for the province to basically establish itself as a province with a high level of economic openness by 2030 and fully achieve that goal by 2035.

By 2030, the plan aims for Zhejiang's trade in goods and services to account for about 12 percent of China's total trade in goods and services. It targets 1.2 trillion yuan ($178.54 billion) in digital trade and 1 trillion yuan in services trade.

The province also seeks to raise container throughput at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port to more than 50 million twenty-foot equivalent units, handle 640,000 metric tons of international air cargo and mail, and record 8 million international air passenger trips. The Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe freight train service is expected to remain among the country's leaders by number of trains operated.

The plan focuses on improving trade quality and efficiency, two-way investment, opening-up platforms, transport links and the business environment. Measures include expanding exports of high-tech products, developing transport and travel services, applying artificial intelligence in digital trade and improving overseas support for companies.

Zhejiang will also develop its bulk commodity resource allocation hub, deepen comprehensive reform of international trade in Yiwu, further develop the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone, improve customs clearance, facilitate services for international visitors, and promote the secure and free flow of data across borders.
