Global Chinese computational biology experts gather in Shaoxing

The fourth Worldwide Chinese Conference on Computational Biology was held in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, from Sept 13 to 15, bringing together more than 370 experts, scholars, and young researchers from universities, research institutions, and the biopharmaceutical industry in China and overseas.

Under the theme AI for Biology and Medicine, the conference was hosted by Shaoxing Institute of Technology and co-organized by the Bioinformatics Society of Zhejiang Province. It featured a main forum and six parallel sessions covering cutting-edge topics including AI-driven drug discovery, target identification, ligand design, multi-omics analysis, biomolecular structure prediction and simulation, and molecular interaction mechanisms.

A poster exhibition also showcased research by young scientists in areas such as AI-assisted drug design and biomolecular simulation.

Academicians Wu Yundong of Peking University and Li Xiaokun, president of Wenzhou Medical University, attended the event, while several leading scholars delivered keynote speeches on topics including drug design for challenging targets, molecular force fields and simulation software.

Founded in 2012, the Worldwide Chinese Conference on Computational Biology has become a platform for Chinese computational biology researchers from around the world to share discoveries and foster collaboration. Its latest edition in Shaoxing is expected to strengthen the connection between research and industry and support innovation in biomedicine across the Yangtze River Delta.
