Zhejiang Yuexiu University has officially been approved as a master's degree-granting institution, marking a major milestone in its development.

The approval was announced on Sept 14 by the Office of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. Three programs — Translation, International Business, and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages — have been approved to offer master’s degrees, with enrollment set to begin in 2026.

The milestone comes as the university celebrates its 45th anniversary. Over the years, it has pursued a distinctive, high-quality development path, strengthening its academic disciplines, international collaboration and digital capabilities while improving the quality of education. In the 2026 ShanghaiRanking Best Chinese Universities Ranking, the university ranked fourth among China's private universities and second among private language-focused universities.

The three new master's programs are designed to align with China's opening-up strategy and the international development needs of Zhejiang and the Yangtze River Delta region. Building on the university's strengths in foreign languages and international education, they will work together to cultivate interdisciplinary professionals with global perspectives and practical expertise.

The university said it will use the new milestone as an opportunity to deepen cooperation with local governments, industries and international partners, while continuing its development into a leading application-oriented and international university.
