Shaoxing-born sprinter Xie Zhenye helped China clinch gold in the men's 4×100-meter relay at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Sept 28.

Xie teamed up with Chen Jinfeng, Zeng Keli, and Wang Shengjie to clock 38.17 seconds in the final, finishing 0.15 seconds ahead of Chinese Taipei, with South Korea taking bronze.

At 33, Xie was the only member of the Chinese quartet with previous Asian Games experience. The victory marked his third appearance at the continental event, following gold-medal finishes in Incheon and Hangzhou.

Running the anchor leg, Xie said he "really enjoyed" the race, highlighting the special nature of relay events as one of the few team competitions in athletics.

"Winning gold was the result of the whole team's efforts," Xie said.

The victory added another Asian Games gold medal to Xie's career and showcased the blend of experience and emerging talent in China's sprint team.
