Short videos created by individuals or groups in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province won eight prizes at the 2021 Tell China's Stories Contest award ceremony on July 19, local media outlets reported.

A video about Bonino Gabriella, an Italian sinologist's cultural exploration trip in Rui'an, a county-level city governed by Wenzhou, won the contest's grand prize. The video recorded Gabriella's past two years of experience in Rui'an, where she visited over 60 inheritors of local intangible cultural heritage items and wrote a book about them.

A video showing medical teams from the Eye Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University offering ophthalmological treatment to patients in the less-developed Sichuan-Tibet region since 2012 won the contest's first prize.

Another six videos, which recorded Wenzhou's rich cultural deposits, such as tea art, paper-making, hair embroidery, dragon boats, the lantern festival, and Ouju Opera, won third prizes.

The Wenzhou municipal publicity department, Wenzhou Medical University, and Rui'an publicity department were also awarded for their solid support for the event.

The fruitful results reflected Wenzhou's dedication to international promotion in recent years, as the city has not only established a number of overseas media centers at the city, district, and county levels, but also gathered over 500 overseas Chinese people and foreigners to promote Wenzhou.
