Wenzhou, a renowned hometown for overseas Chinese based in East China's Zhejiang province, has been making substantial efforts to provide services for its overseas community.

It is home to 700,000 people living abroad and 344,000 returning overseas Chinese and their families. People originating from Wenzhou who live abroad have formed 350 associations in 131 countries and regions, creating a strong overseas community that supports the development of their homeland.

One example of the services provided to overseas Chinese is the "Overseas Chinese Smart Valley" in Yongjia county of Wenzhou. Established in April 2011, the smart valley is the first provincial-level innovation and entrepreneurship base for overseas Chinese. It consists of six platforms, including an assistance center, a lecture hall for overseas Chinese talent, a home for overseas returnees, and a legal consulting committee.

In a video produced by the Wenzhou Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Wang Pingping, the chairperson of the Yongjia County Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, explained the development process and experiences of the smart valley.

Overseas Chinese affairs is a long-term and strategic task closely related to the overall development of the Party and the country. The efforts made by Wenzhou have shown significant results in serving the strategy of innovation-driven development, promoting local economic development, and driving industrial transformation and upgrading.

Looking ahead, the Wenzhou Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese aims to create a better business environment and a more vibrant atmosphere of innovation as well as establish efficient service mechanisms.
