Pingyang leads Zhejiang's mountainous counties with GDP of more than 70b yuan

In 2023, Pingyang county in Wezhou, Zhejiang province achieved a significant milestone, as its gross domestic product surpassed 70 billion yuan ($9.78 billion) for the first time, positioning it at the forefront of the province's 26 mountainous counties.

This accomplishment reflects Pingyang's remarkable economic progress and its pivotal role in the region's development.

Pingyang's ascent has been notable in recent years. In 2022, the county's GDP and total industrial output value exceeded 60 billion yuan, propelling it into the top 100 counties nationwide in terms of comprehensive competitiveness. Furthermore, in the provincial assessment of high-quality development, Pingyang secured the top spot among the 26 mountainous counties.

At the start of 2023, Pingyang set a series of ambitious goals, aiming for an annual GDP increase of 10 billion yuan and seeking to break into the top 10 in the province in terms of growth rate, with a target GDP surpassing 70 billion yuan. Remarkably, Pingyang not only achieved but exceeded these objectives, underscoring its commitment to progress and economic vitality.

Pingyang's success is underpinned by strategic initiatives and robust investment efforts. The county has consistently attracted major projects, with a focus on industrial development and infrastructure enhancement.
