Ningbo's Xiaobaihua Yueju Opera Troupe is set to embark on a cultural tour of Europe starting Oct 2, bringing the classic Chinese opera the Dream of the Red Chamber to audiences in France, Germany and Spain.

The tour, running nearly 10 days, will highlight the troupe's commitment to showcasing the elegance of traditional Chinese performing arts on the global stage.

Chosen for its deep cultural resonance and international appeal, the Dream of the Red Chamber serves as a bridge between East and West. Its poetic lyrics, graceful movements and rich emotional depth captivated French cultural ambassador Vincent Lemarchand during a preview in Ningbo on Sept 10, who praised its ability to convey the pure essence of Chinese tradition.

Performances are scheduled for France's Louvre Lens Theater on Oct 4, Germany's Nuremberg Theater on Oct 6 and Spain's University of Granada Theater on Oct 10.

Beyond the stage, the troupe will host lectures, city-to-city exchanges and flash mob-style performances featuring modernized Yueju Opera segments — blending traditional vocals with contemporary rhythms.

Young performers are refining every gesture and line, driven by the honor of representing Ningbo and China abroad. Behind the scenes, teams are refining all the subtitles, lighting and stage designs to ensure a seamless experience.

From its first overseas performance in 1988 to today's vibrant tours, Ningbo's Yueju Opera continues to enchant global audiences  — proving that beauty, in all its forms, transcends borders.
