Zhao Shang Yi Dun, a cruise ship operated by China Merchants Viking Cruises, recently docked again in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, bringing a new wave of international visitors to Dongsha ancient fishing town of Daishan county.

Inside the scenic area, the sound of gongs and drums filled the air as tourists immersed themselves in the atmosphere of the fishing town. Visitors watched and joined traditional performances, taking photos and videos to capture the vivid cultural scenes.

Last year, Viking Cruises launched eight voyages themed around Chinese cultural exploration. Among the most memorable destinations for foreign travelers was Dongsha ancient fishing town, whose island-style heritage programs — including puppet shows, dragon and lion dances, and Zhoushan storytelling — have gained widespread attention on overseas social media.

Through the combination of cruises and intangible heritage, Daishan continues to connect its maritime culture with global tourism demand. The county aims to enrich travel itineraries with more local customs and traditional arts, ensuring that overseas visitors can carry the charm of island culture home with them.
