The 2025 China Taizhou (Duqiao) International Optical Fair and the China (Taizhou) Eyewear E-commerce Product Selection Meeting opened on Oct 18 at Duqiao Eyewear City in Taizhou, East China's Zhejiang province, bringing together more than 300 exhibitors and over 11,000 buyers from 50 countries and regions.

This year's three-day event covers an exhibition area of more than 30,000 square meters and features five major sections, including eyewear, accessories, intelligent manufacturing, designer brands, and e-commerce. Around 500 foreign buyers are attending this year's event, up about 20 percent year-on-year. The number of visitors on the first day has reached over 9,100, an increase of 25 percent year-on-year, while the transaction volume reached 120 million yuan ($16.84 million), an increase of 20 percent year-on-year.

The event has also introduced a special e-commerce theme, combining professional exhibitions with livestreaming to boost digital transformation and global visibility for Taizhou's eyewear industry.

As China's leading eyewear manufacturing base, Duqiao town hosts over 1,000 supporting enterprises and 28 large-scale manufacturers, with an annual industry output exceeding 7 billion yuan. The town's sunglasses production and market share both rank first nationwide. More than 1,200 distributors and 25 Taobao villages operate locally, generating 2.3 billion yuan in annual online sales — about 40 percent of the national total.

Dedicated areas for global e-commerce, livestreaming, and cross-border trade connect domestic platforms such as JD and Douyin with international leaders like Amazon, Temu, and TikTok, strengthening Taizhou's position as a major global eyewear hub.
