Over 30 young media professionals from seven countries, including Tanzania, Egypt, Gambia, Zimbabwe, and Uruguay, participated in a field study in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on Nov 3 and 4.
The visit was part of a training program for countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, offering a unique media perspective on the city's ecological and social governance.
On the first day, participants visited Yucun village, the birthplace of the national development concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets". While there, they gained insights into Yucun's green transformation, which integrated ecological tourism with rural governance.
At Taihu Lake Longemont Paradise, the group marveled at its scale and the harmonious coexistence of development and ecological preservation. Their focus was on how development can proceed in harmony with nature on the shores of Taihu Lake.
At the South Taihu New Area Ecological Governance Center, they learned about the significant achievements in water management in the Taihu Lake basin, with models and data illustrating the lake's remarkable transformation.
"Huzhou's ecological governance is not just a single story; it blends ancient wisdom with digital innovation," said Trevor Livingstone Baba from Tanzania. "As media professionals, we need such comprehensive perspectives to truly understand the key to China's development."
