Zhejiang upgrades marine tech cooperation with Thailand
East China's Zhejiang province and Thailand have deepened their marine science cooperation, marking a new phase in a partnership that began in the late 1980s.
The Zhejiang Mariculture Research Institute and Burapha University signed a new cooperation agreement in Chonburi, Thailand, to advance joint research and development. The institute also signed an MOU with the Thai-Sino Association of Science and Technology.
Zhang Lijun, deputy director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Marine Economic Development, and Pichai Sonchaeng, secretary-general of the Thai-Sino Association of Science and Technology, witnessed the signing and jointly unveiled the Sino-Thai Joint Laboratory of Marine Science and Technology.
Experts from both sides held discussions on marine fisheries cooperation, laboratory platform development, and the use of AI in marine research, reaching a broad consensus on future collaboration.
The partnership between Burapha University and the Zhejiang Mariculture Research Institute spans 35 years and has produced substantial achievements. The two sides have conducted more than 150 exchange visits, and Professor Pichai Sonchaeng received Zhejiang's West Lake Friendship Award in 2006.
