A group of 13 international students from Zhejiang University of Technology's Moganshan Campus recently visited Lianhe village in Deqing county, Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province.

These students engaged in hands-on experiences with fabric sewing, traditional woodworking, and rice harvesting, gaining insight into the vibrant pulse of rural vitalization in China.

During the fabric sewing experience session, the students gathered around worktables in a village cottage, carefully stitching small items with needles and threads.

Lin Xinyan, a student from Thailand, chose light-colored fabric to craft a hairband. She expressed great joy at trying fabric arts for the first time. The group also learned to use vintage sewing machines, with the rhythmic clatter sparking excitement among them.

In the woodworking workshop, under the guidance of a carpenter, the students practiced using planes and saws. Initially clumsy, they quickly grasped the techniques — pulling the saw vertically and pushing the plane steadily. Through this hands-on experience, they appreciated the wisdom of Chinese craftsmen.

The most memorable activity was rice harvesting. Armed with sickles, the students worked alongside villagers amid golden fields, where the breeze rustled softly through the paddies. Jin Na, another student from Thailand, found the activity relaxing.

They captured the moment with photos against the backdrop of the harvest, their smiles capturing a moment of cross-cultural friendship.
