Huzhou's transportation and cultural tourism departments have recently launched an initiative to enhance the "Northern Zhejiang Scenic Route", a scenic route in Huzhou, Zhejiang province, aiming to complete the transformation by the end of next year.
This project seeks to create a model for integrating ecological beauty, cultural charm, transportation convenience, and industrial vitality into a seamless driving experience.
The "Northern Zhejiang Scenic Route" begins at Anji's Jiangnan Tianchi scenic area, traverses through Deqing county, Nanxun district, Wuxing district, and Southern Taihu Lake New Area, and ends at the Shili Ancient Ginkgo Corridor scenic spot in Changxing county. Spanning approximately 248 kilometers, the route includes 31 major regional roads.
The route features seven provincial or higher-level tourist resorts, including four national-level resorts, 102 AAA-rated or above scenic spots, 43 recreational vehicle campsites, and 89 ancient paths. In 2024, it was named one of the "Top 10 Most Beautiful Driving Routes" in China.
The enhancement focuses on four main areas — road facilities, service quality, environmental conditions, and industry development. Goals include achieving full coverage in the automated inspection of road quality, excellent road conditions, safety facilities, and timely maintenance of dangerous bridges. A "30-minute service station circle" will ensure safe and convenient travel.
To support green tourism, a comprehensive charging infrastructure will be established by 2026.
The route will also feature new viewing platforms, rest areas, and shared mobility services to meet the diverse needs of tourists.
