In Ningbo's historic Cicheng ancient town, three visitors from Germany, Italy, and Indonesia stepped back in time by wearing hanfu (traditional attire) and exploring centuries-old landmarks.
The sunset's golden light bathed the ancient town as the group toured Xiyuan, the Zhou Xinfang Theater Art Museum, and the Confucius Temple, which offered vivid encounters with Chinese customs of marriage, theater, and education.
For German traveler Nikan Wetter-Shirazi, dressed in a red scholar's robe and carrying a ceremonial sword, the experience was transformative. "Wearing this costume and walking through historic buildings feels like entering ancient times. It's an immersive discovery beyond books," he said.
Italian visitor Alessia Amadei, who has explored Beijing and Xi'an, admired the practice of wearing traditional clothing at cultural sites. "It connects people more deeply to their homeland and history. I'd love to bring this idea to Italy," she noted.
The journey concluded at the Confucius Temple, where the three tied red ribbons inscribed with wishes for academic success and joyful holidays.
