Zhoushan China International Aquatic City in East China's Zhejiang province was listed among the top 100 national commodity market by trading volumes, as announced by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences at the 14th China Commodity Market Forum held in Hangzhou on Nov 26.
As a key hub for aquatic products in the province and across China, the market has solidified its position as one of the country's largest distribution centers for aquatic products.
From January to November this year, the market handled 923,000 metric tons of aquatic products, with a transaction volume of 18.19 billion yuan ($2.58 billion), both reflecting steady year-on-year growth. Its trading network now covers the entire nation, further cementing its leadership position.
To enhance its logistics capabilities, the market is accelerating the construction of a modern cold-chain logistics park. The first phase is over 80 percent complete, and the second phase — centered on "new retail", an industry term referring to the integration of online and offline shopping experiences — is expected to begin operations in early 2026. By 2028, the entire park will be operational, integrating cold-chain storage, logistics, aquatic product trading, and seafood retail services, improving the efficiency of aquatic product circulation.
Alongside infrastructure development, Zhoushan China International Aquatic City is also advancing its digital transformation to improve service quality and enhance the consumer experience.
