The 2026 Celebrating the Chinese New Year with Barcelona event opened in the Spanish city from Feb 7 to 8, local time.

Ningbo's Zhenhai district brought its "Hi Craft" intangible cultural heritage (ICH) creative exhibition to Spain, this time lighting up the iconic Arc de Triomphe with the festive spirit of Chinese New Year.

More than 40 ICH-inspired works were presented, including brightly colored Zhenhai farmer paintings, delicate celadon ornaments, and festive blessing pouches symbolizing good fortune. The exhibition drew crowds of local residents and tourists, many stopping to admire the craftsmanship.

For overseas Chinese in Spain, the display carried special meaning. "It feels so familiar and heartwarming. I didn't expect to see intangible cultural heritage from my hometown, Zhejiang, here in Barcelona," said Jin Sen, a Zhejiang native who has lived and worked in the city for years. Barcelona is home to more than 70,000 Chinese residents.

The Spring Festival celebration has become an important platform for locals to experience Chinese culture. The debut of Ningbo's ICH creations at this flagship overseas event offers a new window into the city's rich cultural heritage.

After the event, the exhibits will remain in Barcelona for long-term display and community activities, continuing to strengthen cultural ties between Ningbo and Spain.
