Zhoushan in East China's Zhejiang province saw 648,000 visits during the Qingming Festival holiday from April 4 to 6, as the holiday coincided with traditional tomb-sweeping, spring outings, and pilgrimage period.
Over the three days, 247,000 vehicles crossed the Zhoushan Cross-Sea Bridge, with Zhujiajian Bridge reaching 216,000 and the Zhoushan–Daishan Bridge recording 66,000.
Cemetery areas also experienced high visitation, with authorities implementing one-way traffic and temporary vehicle restrictions to manage peak periods, which typically eased around 10 am. The Putuo Mountain pilgrimage period further increased waterway traffic, handling 290,000 passenger visits in the first two days, up 4.56 percent year-on-year.
Most visitors hailed from Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces and Shanghai, while travelers within the province mainly came from Ningbo, Hangzhou, and Jinhua.
Hotels and boutique homestays saw average occupancies of 53.6 percent, with family-themed and chain hotels nearly full during the first two days. Cultural and leisure events, including flower-viewing, heritage crafts, and hiking, were held across 59 activities, with 60,000 tourism vouchers distributed to encourage student participation.
