Quzhou companies tap more opportunities in UN procurement market
The "Zhejiang Win-Win Initiative" UN Sustainable Procurement Promotion Conference was held on April 1 in Quzhou, Zhejiang province. The event was seen as a bridge to the international public procurement market for small- and medium-sized enterprises in Quzhou.
Organized by the Quzhou Council for the Promotion of International Trade, the event attracted nearly 200 participants, including representatives from UN agencies in China, the UN/International Organizations Sustainable Procurement Service Center in Shanghai, and local enterprises.
Healthcare was cited as the largest UN procurement sector, accounting for one-fifth of the total. This quickly caught the attention of Hua Jiacheng, sales manager of Quzhou Hanrui Medical Devices. "Our products, like gauze, align well with UN needs," Hua said.
Xu Guoqing from Zhejiang Xin'an Intelligent Technology showcased a video recorder to UN experts. "We have strong products in the transportation and police sectors, yet were unaware of the potential to sell to the UN organizations," he said, expressing eagerness to pursue future opportunities.
Notably, Zhejiang Bolin Instrument, a UN supplier since 2007, currently provides 30 percent of its educational equipment to the UN.
Lu Ruiguang, project manager at the UN Office for Project Services in China, said, "Quzhou's new energy and new materials industries impress me, and we met several companies with good potential. UN procurement has a mature process, and interested companies should explore it further."
The Quzhou Council for the Promotion of International Trade plans to organize training sessions on UN procurement registration, bid preparation, and capacity building.
