The Wuyue Cup kicked off at Jiaxing Sports Center Stadium in East China's Zhejiang province on April 6, with the home Jiaxing team defeating Quzhou 1-0. Organizers created an event that blended sports, culture, and entertainment.

The opening ceremony highlighted traditions of Jiangnan (referring to the southern region of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River). Traditional performances, including lantern displays and nine-colored dragon dances, took place alongside soccer activities, while local crafts and cuisine — from indigo-dyed textiles to zongzi (glutinous rice with various fillings wrapped in leaves) — added a strong sense of Jiangnan.

A sense of youthful energy was central to the event. Jiaxing's team had an average age of less than 25 years old, and 26 young ball boys joined the players on the field. Fans were able to experience a variety of innovative flourishes, including a kickoff by a robot dressed as a martial arts hero and interactive blind boxes containing local treats and surprises, reflecting the playful, modern spirit of the city.

The tournament also integrated culture, commerce, and tourism. A 97-stall market featured sports activities, cultural exhibitions, and local food. Visitors were able to explore nearby attractions, sample regional cuisine, and enjoy citywide promotions tied to match tickets. Special offers, live streaming, and gift giveaways kept the crowd engaged beyond the pitch.

By combining Jiangnan heritage, youthful innovation, and immersive city experiences, the Wuyue Cup served as both a sporting competition and a cultural festival, giving Jiaxing a distinctive presence in Zhejiang's soccer scene.
