The 2026 Putuo Huazhao Festival opened at Shen Garden in Zhoushan, East China's Zhejiang province, on April 18, blending traditional flower culture with coastal scenery and interactive activities.

A series of activities has been arranged to enhance engagement. Traditional-style parades, music gatherings, and a themed creative market make up the main attractions.

The opening ceremony featured a procession led by performers dressed as 12 "flower deities", recreating the elegance of the traditional festival. In the afternoon, a lawn performance combined pop music with themed runway shows inspired by flower deities, blending contemporary music with traditional aesthetics.

The on-site market offered hanfu (traditional Chinese attire) rentals, cultural accessories, and seasonal flower products, along with spring-themed food, allowing visitors to explore a range of cultural items all in one place.

The Huazhao Festival, a traditional celebration marking the birthday of flowers, reflects people's wishes for prosperity and renewal. Follow-up events will be held on April 25, April 26, and during the May Day holiday, featuring themed parades and immersive cultural programs. These activities are expected to extend the festival's appeal and offer visitors a variety of ways to experience spring traditions.
